Today is "Think it through Tuesday" and we are reflecting on the past week's focus on Facebook.

For the past week, we've been using this checklist from the TPT Social Media Planner & Weekly Checklist. Hopefully you accomplished the "must," the "shoulds," and maybe even the "coulds."

This TPT social media planner and the weekly checklists will help you prioritize the steps you need to take to establish your presence on social media.

Take a look back at your Facebook page and your posts from this past week. Identify the post that had the most interaction and reached the greatest number of people. To do this, you want to visit the "Insights" for your page.

When you click on "Insights," it will take you to a page that looks like this.

Scroll down and you will see this, Your 5 Most Recent Posts.

If you posted on Facebook each day of #tptSMsurge's first week you will have a total of 7 posts, so you want to click on "See All Posts" at the bottom.

Now you can see all of your posts from the past week. The two columns you want to look at are "Reach" (yellow bar = # of people who saw this post) and "Engagement" (purpleish/pinkish bar = likes, comments, shares). You can see that my post on 7/14 (examples are all from before #tptSmsurge) about a Flash Freebie reached the greatest number of people (107), but that my post on 7/18 about holding a thesis throwdown received the greatest number of likes, comments, and shares. If you click on the post, you can see the breakdown of likes, comments, and shares.

Now you'll have all the information you need to complete your reflection on Facebook. We are all about celebrating successes here with #tptSMsurge, so take a screenshot of your most successful Facebook post from the past week and add that, along with the number of likes, comments, and shares it received, to the image below.

You can right click and save and/or print this image for your own use. If you would like to, you can share this image on Instagram or Twitter using #tptSMsurge or on our secret Pinterest Board. To share on our Pinterest board, you must request to join the board first by filling out this Google Form. We know that many of you are conscious of not wanting to turn off buyers, so the secret Pinterest board allows only other participants in this event to see your posting. The purpose of sharing these images, besides to celebrate our successes, is to allow others to see what works well. We are all here to learn from each other.

I would recommend looking closely at your analytics each week for a month to see what patterns emerge. What type of content gets the most interaction? What time? Images? Link? Just looking at one week's worth of data (7 posts) may give you some clues as to what works, but a mont's worth of data (30 posts) will give you a much clearer picture.

I hope that this past week was helpful for you and increased your knowledge of how to best utilize Facebook. Check back on this blog tomorrow or in the Facebook group for directions for our week focusing on Instagram.

Got questions? Leave a comment below or here in this Google Form. And be sure to spread the word to any TPTers who might be interested in joining us as well. We look forward to continuing to connect with you during #tptSMsurge!
